MATT STOKES - Lead Pastor
Contact Matt

In 2003, Matt Stokes and his wife Laura left Calvary Chapel of Philadelphia to teach a Bible study in a small sandwich shop in downtown Ocean City. Today, that ministry is called Coastal Christian Ocean City. A graduate of Philadelphia Biblical University (Cairn University), Matt’s vision is to educate, equip and empower believers to reach the lost and make disciples. Pastor Matt places a strong emphasis on applying the Scriptures to everyday life.

My favorite bible character is:  Samuel. He has no history of miracles or profound pontifications. It was his relationship with God and his integrity that changed the nation!

Trademark saying:   "…and as we begin to close… and as we close… and I’ll close with this… and with that, I’m in.”

No one knows I still:  No one knows I still… am quite introverted.

Best advice I could give a young person:  One of the most precious gifts you could give to God… is your youth.

My childhood ambition was:  to break all of the athletic records in my elementary gym class.

My favorite food is:  filet mignon topped with fresh crab meat and the perfect Hollandaise.

My life verse is:  Galatians 2:20 "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."

My favorite hobby is:  playing guitar/piano.

My favorite verse:   Revelations 5:13  "And then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea. They sang: "Blessing and honor and glory and power belong to the one sitting on the throne and to the Lamb forever and ever."

My biggest challenge is:  being still.

A transforming experience was:  the birth of COASTAL.

MATTHEW MAHER - Teaching Pastor

Contact Matt Maher

Matthew has been on the soccer field, Pro. He has been behind the prison wall, Con. Now he is  back from the grave of failure to instigate integrity, inspire conscience, and influence conduct (learn more at www.themattmaherstory.com). Matthew and his beautiful wife, Sarah, reside in Ocean City, NJ. He graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia with a BS in BA; however, upon completion of his education, Matthew was a 1st round draft pick to play professional soccer, where he did so for the next three seasons. He came to Coastal as the Team Leader of Student Ministries in March of 2015 and began teaching our Thursday night service consistently in September of 2015. In October 2017, Coastal acknowledged, affirmed, and celebrated the ordainment of Matthew to the Office of Pastor.

My favorite Bible character is:  Joseph. He went through so much, from a pit to a prison to eventually a palace; but never becoming bitter, only better. Joseph essentially suffered successfully, and he knew that the God he served would work his whole life together for the good, and for His glory.

If I had a different job it would be:  an undercover detective in a major city.

Trademark saying:  "U MAY B THE ONLY BIBLE SOMEBODY READS" ( also a 1st published book by 55:11 Publishing, available on Amazon.com).

No one knows I still:  let’s keep it that way! LOL!

Best advice I could give a young person: Do not devalue the things God has given you, for whatever you devalue you will eventually lose.

My childhood ambition was: to become a pro soccer player, following in one of my older brother’s footsteps.

My idea of a perfect day is: the sun shining bright and its heat in full effect; poolside, with good company. (Or a much better day, when Jesus comes back!)

My favorite food is: Chinese food; Kung Pao Chicken.

My life verse is: Proverbs 3:5-6 - “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.”

My favorite hobby: working out.

What’s in my CD player/iPod: Casting Crowns, East to West.

My ideal vacation spot is: the Bahamas.

My biggest challenge is: dying to myself daily.

A transforming experience was: navigating my tragedy and the isolation of my incarceration, by God’s grace alone.

  DAN NOBLE - Administrator
  Contact Dan

Dan and his wife, Karen, and their children, Ben and Paige, moved to Egg  Harbor Township in the summer of 2010. After 17 years of teaching in Christian  Schools, Dan joined the Coastal staff in the summer of 2014. He is a 1997  graduate of Cairn University.

My favorite bible character is:  Abraham. To have the faith to lay his son on an altar - wow!

If I had a different job it would be:  working as a 1st Mate on a boat located in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Trademark saying:  none really, especially not "golly jeepers!"

No one knows I still:  dream of working with Coach K. at Duke University.

Best advice I could give a young person:  Don’t let pride get in the way of what God wants to do in your life.

My childhood ambition was:  to be a professional athlete, and after teaching P.E. for 17 years, I will argue that I achieved that goal.

My idea of a perfect day is:  watching the sunrise as I cross the 34th Street bridge, a morning of fishing on "MayDay ’51," pulling the boat up on Strathmere Point to join family and friends in games. Then cooking the day's catch on the beach as we watch the sunset.

My favorite food is:  fresh flounder cooked on the beach!

My life verse is:  Psalms 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God.”

My favorite hobby is:  spending time on the beach with Karen and the kids; also, splitting firewood.
